Lane having fun

Since I'm feeling a little lazy tonight and don't feel like writing much, you mainly get pictures. The hay bale and trampoline ones are from Chad's house - we celebrated Grace's birthday last Sunday.

Brooks Lambert Burgess

Yesterday I got to meet Brooks for the first time! Since Mom wanted to go help Casey and Blake for awhile, Dad took her out there yesterday. Since he was coming back yet that night, I decided to go along. I am so glad that I did!

Brooks is a cutie and everyone seemed to be getting along fine :) I am a little jealous that Casey got 6 hours of sleep in a row on Tuesday night (even I'm not getting that right now!) but I'm sure that she'll have her fair share of sleepness nights.

I forgot how little newborns are - they're so easy to hold! Lane has suddenly wanted to cuddle alot, and he doesn't fit on my lap near as well as he used to!

Seeing and holding Brooks just makes me that much more anxious for our baby girl to get here. Only 10 more weeks!

Congratulations, Casey and Blake!

A 2-year-old!

Can't believe that Lane is 2! Well, I guess his birthday isn't until tomorrow, but we celebrated on Sunday, so it "feels" like he's 2 already (and he's acting like he's 2...he's upstairs running around in his room when he is supposed to be sleeping so that Mommy can take a nap too!).

I decided to do a construction theme for his party (really only the cake and colored plates, he doesn't need much!). I thought that the cake turned out really cute. My friend Kara did a farm theme cake for Braden's birthday, so I kinda copied her! It was super easy to put together and Curtis and I had fun shopping for the candy and the toys!

Lane was so excited about the toys on his cake that he didn't eat any! He just wanted to play in the "rocks".

After we were done with all of that, we took Lane out to the garage to see his gift from Chad. Chad made an excavator to go behind a trike (a hand-me-down that is still too big for Lane). It's so cool and Lane loves it! He hasn't quite mastered how to actually scoop with it, but he likes to watch Mommy use it ;) Curtis is planning to paint it yellow and black like the John Deere excavators. Should be pretty cool when it's all done!

It was really fun to celebrate with everyone and I'm pretty sure that Lane had a great time! The next day, I told Lane that it was Mommy's birthday, and he just looked at me like, "uh huh, it's not your birthday, I'm the only one who's supposed to have a birthday." Crazy boy.

As a side note....Lane and I went out to the field this morning. He said something when he saw Curtis, and I said, "Tractor?" He nodded and smiled, so that must've been what he meant. It actually sounded like tractor...so maybe we're getting closer to some words!

26 weeks

This photo is a little late (I'm about 28 1/2 weeks right now), but here's a pic of me at 26 weeks. I'm starting to outgrow all my shirts and have dug into Curtis' drawers for t-shirts already!

Only about 12 more weeks to go! Can't wait to meet baby girl!

Lane must have some Reimer in him...

Since Lane has been in his big boy bed, I've gotten into the habit of checking on him after he falls asleep. Mostly because it hilarious to see what he's gotten himself into, but also to make sure he isn't suffocating himself with a stuffed animal :)

Today, I checked on him and found this:

Yep, he piled all his animals and pillow into the corner, sat on them, and then fell asleep sitting up. Kinda reminds me of Grandpa Reimer! I moved him to a more normal position before I went to take a nap :)

What I like to do...

Since it's been nice out, Lane loves to be outside. Being outside with a hose and a big pile of dirt, well, life doesn't get any better for a two-year-old boy :)

Lane also has fallen in love with his closet. He likes to take all his stuffed animals, blankets, etc. and put them in the closet, then go in and shut the doors. Then he "hides" from Mommy.

He also likes to tug on his way-too-big pajamas with the "woof woof" on them.

April and Easter

April started off with dyeing Easter eggs! I thought it might get a little messy...and it did...but Lane did super good and had a blast. He got 5 eggs that he could keep dunking as much as he wanted and I did the rest to make them pretty.


It's always more fun when Grandma comes over to help!

Easter was gorgeous this year! We weren't really planning on an egg hunt, but since it was so nice, we just had to! Lane really caught on fast and loved finding the eggs, especially once he figured out that some have chocolate in them :)

We even hid Easter "baskets" for the boys...good job finding yours, Curtis!

Curtis was also busy Easter weekend making a sandbox for Lane. Lane really enjoyed "helping" and has spent quite a few hours playing in it already!

Spring is here!

It's been so long since I updated my blog that I almost forgot my password...forgive me!

Here's what we were up to in the month of March -

And that's about all! I am so excited for this warmer weather, although I could do without the wind :)

19 weeks!

More cute things Lane does

I have done great at keeping up with my picture-of-the-day...however, that means that I normally don't take alot of other pictures! Here are a couple of pics of Lane doing what he does...

He just loves the slide that he got for Christmas. He always sticks his animals into the "windows" and then piles the bigger ones on the platform....then pushes them all down the slide before sliding down on top of them. He has so much fun!


I made this card table fort for Lane out of burlap and some camo fabric. He loves it! I really wanted to make it all cute, like add more windows (there is one on the side), his name on the front, and a felt "garden" on the back. But, my laziness won out and it's just a plain fort for now. It makes a good garage for his trucks or a cage for his stuffed animals. In this picture, we gave him a flashlight and he had so much fun sitting in the fort shining the light around. I love that his little face is peeking out!



Lane is still quite the clean freak. On Saturday, I was standing in front of my closet trying to decide what to wear. Lane walked over, peeked in the closet, and said, "ugh" or "oooohhh" (or however that sound should be spelled!). I asked him what was wrong and he did it again. I told him that he could get whatever he needed to. He grabbed my purse and ran over to the hook in the laundry room where I normally keep it. Thanks, Lane for keeping mommy organzied!

Then later, he walked into the kitchen. "Ugh!!" he said, with his hands spread out. He ran to get the broom and started "sweeping" the floor. I could just hear him thinking "Oh, Mommy, it's been 3 days since you last swept and this is disgusting." (In my defense, I've been sick with a cold and haven't felt like doing much!) Silly boy....he definitely likes things clean.

Such a big boy

A few weeks ago we decided it was time to move Lane to his big boy bed. The mattress has been on the floor in his room for several months and I was getting tired of lifting him into his crib all the time. We also wanted to have plenty of time to get him used to it before the baby comes! We figured 6 months would be sufficient ;)

It took a little bit of crying to get him to sleep the first few nights. We had to stay in his room to make sure that he stayed on the bed until he fell asleep. We were pleasantly surprised when it only took 3 nights and he was falling asleep on his own like always! It also surprised me that he actually slept in (almost an hour later!) the first night. I figure his bed must be alot more comfortable than the crib was. He had started waking up a few times a night in his crib, but once he moved into his twin bed, that stopped. Lane is back to waking up at 7:00, but at least it's not 6:30-6:45 like he was doing for awhile!

The first morning that I went in to his room to get him, I noticed that his blanket and his kitty were across the room. Strange. Then I saw that he had a big bump on his forehead! I guess that he probably got out of bed in the middle of the night and ran into something. He never cried or anything though!

Now, even when it takes him 45+ minutes to fall asleep for a nap, he always stays on his bed (it helps that he sleeps with about 10 stuffed animals so he always has someone to play with) and, when he wakes up, he waits for me to come get him before he will get out of bed.
